WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Who are We?

Dedavella Life Coaching Services is an edtech firm with a focus on promoting child wellbeing to bridge the gap between academic and practical skills for the future workforce, society, and families.
Our story started with our founder’s childhood experience with peer violence which took the deliberate intervention of a trusted adult to improve her sense of wellbeing, social competence, and communication skills. Hence our goal to inspire the mastery of critical habits for success in children and adolescents. We join hands with the working mom and institutions in ensuring that children do not miss out on the opportunity of becoming successful in life through afterschool hours and weekend life coaching programs. The programs are for ages 9-12 & 13-16 years respectively, virtually or in person, by themselves or in small groups. We hold a safe space for these children to unburden their struggles and at the same time get equipped for life. We also partner with institutions to equip children in schools with proven tools to end peer violence in the classroom and also conduct webinars to equip the working mom. We are very passionate about this business because we realize that the struggles and compromises of childhood add up and form the worldview and struggles of adulthood. In the words of Frederick Douglass, “it is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men”. We believe that as soon as children get into school, friendships and interactions with peers take the center stage in their lives. These relationships and interactions have the potential to contribute to and boost their sense of wellbeing, social competence, and communication skills. But these are also avenues of different social vices and peer violence. Although these come in different shapes and forms, available data suggest that bullying by schoolmates is by far the most common.

To join hands with parents and institutions to build the village it takes to have children master the critical habits that will prepare them for the future workforce, society, and families.

History About Us

At the heart of what we do is the wellbeing of every young person. This journey started way back as a university student that was very hungry for a tour guide through life's journey. I wished that I was equipped for life in the university - knowing and embracing my true identity so as not to be tossed about by every wind of lifestyle choices. I looked forward to a boost in my moral, spiritual, academic, social, and leadership stands, so much so that I discovered that most young people are not properly equipped for these and the journey of life for them is like grappling in the dark.

When given a leadership position in my campus fellowship, I saw to the publication of the first ever campus magazine which aim was to address these issues and also serve as a guide for Christain youths on campus. The outcome was great, and many students kept it as a reference guide throughout their stay on campus. The desire to promote the wellbeing of young people didn't end there but continued and took a different dimension when I become a mom.

With the news in the media on child abuse, neglect, violence against and amongst children, anxiety, childhood depression, underage sex and pregnancy, low self-esteem and suicidal thoughts etc among young people. With all these news staring at me in the face, I knew that it was time to roll up my sleeves and work directly with children and adolescents.
Following the desire to work with children and adolescents, I went on to be trained to be equipped to do the work that we do at ETCS. We also conducted a survey to find out the state of young people in Nigeria and found that children in Nigeria just like children in other parts of the world are faced with varying degrees of lifestyle challenges and are in a dire need of connection and to be educated in various life issues.

It's true that a parent is the first teacher and the best life coach for their children, but truth is many parents are overwhelmed and are not equipped to handle certain changes that comes with parenting in this age. Waiting for things to get out of hand and then struggle to repair will do more harm than good and shouldn't be an option when it has to do with young people. It still does take a village! Let a life coach that walks the walk and talks the talk, walk and work with your child/teen.
